The Golden State Warriors have established themselves as a genuine Top-8 team in the Western Conference. However, with teams like Denver and Dallas outside the converted top flight and still rising, there are still many questions around which teams will end up in the Playoffs. With the loss of Klay Thompson, the Warriors will definitely remain an uncertainty.
A team that was definitely considered out of the Playoffs, the New York Knicks. However, their season has been better than expected. Considering how the bottom of the East is always a little open, the Knicks will look to end their playoff drought this year.
The Knicks will enter the game against GSW with Frank Ntilikina and Alec Burks out, with Austin Rivers possibly missing the game as well. Meanwhile, the Warriors will continue to miss Klay Thompson, Alen Smailagic, and Marquese Chriss.
GSW are currently 5th in the West with a record of 8-6. The Knicks are 8th in the East and have a record of 7-8. But can they pull a big win off against GSW?
Golden State Warriors vs New York Knicks: Is there an upset in the making?
This is a hard game to call, even if people may have GSW winning it at face value. While their chances are definitely higher, the Knicks actually have a competent roster in matchups with the Warriors.
They have guards that can defend in RJ Barrett and Elfrid Payton. They have a decent big in Mitchell Robinson.
However, they do lack firepower on the wing, unlike GSW. Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre may not be elite, but both are very talented. Draymond Green is a good matchup against Julius Randle, inarguably the star for the Knicks this season.
For our prediction, we just have to go with the Golden State Warriors. While the matchups are interesting, Steph Curry is the ultimate wildcard in basketball.
Even if Payton or Barrett could slow him down, nobody can stop him. If the supporting cast does their job, this could be a comfortable win for the Warriors.
