WATCH: When Eugenie Bouchard Received a Funny Penalty for Losing a Bet at Mouratoglou Academy

One of Canada’s players Eugenie Bouchard has become quite a sensation with the time gone by. Her best performances came early on in her career when she first made her breakthrough. However, she has been unable to sustain the levels she once made the world witness.

In 2014, Bouchard had the best run of her career. She managed to make it to the semi-finals at the Australian Open and the French Open. She even made it to the final at Wimbledon that year, before falling prey to Petra Kvitova. With the form she was in that season, fans expected her to go the distance.

Eugenie Bouchard gets bucket filled with ice water poured on her

Recently, a funny video of the Canadian surfaced on Instagram. She was seen training at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy when she lost a bet. The penalty for losing that bet was hilarious. A bucket of water mixed with ice was poured over the former world no. 5. Naturally, her reaction was amusing.

A few years ago, the ice bucket challenge became a trend with celebrities from various fields, including sporting personalities. It was an activity that involved the pouring of a bucket of ice water over a person’s head, either by another person or by oneself to promote awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Bouchard is currently preparing for the Australian Open 2021. In order for her to proceed into the main draw, she has to win her qualifying round matches which are going to be held in Dubai for the 2021 season.

The reason behind the organizers doing this is the coronavirus pandemic. The main priority is to conduct the first grand slam of the new season with the topmost safety precautions.

In 2020, Eugenie lost in the 3rd round of the qualifying matches at the Australian Open. She will hope to have a better run during this year’s edition.
