WATCH: Lewis Hamilton in Disbelief After Winning BBC Sportsperson of the Year Award

Lewis Hamilton had an incredible 2020 season. He equaled Michael Schumacher’s record of most world championships, broke the record of most Formula 1 wins, and also beat the Coronavirus towards the end of the season.

After his championship win at Imola, it was announced that Hamilton could receive a ‘Knighthood’. Hamilton stated that it is an incredible honor, and is proud to be a Briton.

Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton was recently awarded the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award. This is the second time he won the trophy, as the first one came six years ago.

Hamilton had a message for his fellow nominees and everyone around the world in his acceptance speech.

He said, “I really want to say thank you to everyone who called in and voted for me. I really wasn’t expecting this knowing that there’s just so many great contenders.”
