The Houston Rockets entered today’s game against the Sacramento Kings without their superstar James Harden. The Beard is sidelined due to an ankle injury, but their offseason acquisition John Wall is handling things pretty well.
While the scores are tied at 64-64, Wall is having a sensational game. He already has 16 points along with 3 steals and is looking just amazing. When the Rockets traded Russell Westbrook for Wall, many doubted their decision.
Honestly, Wall was indeed struggling with lingering injury troubles for the last couple of seasons. But this season Wall is finally healthy and he is flaunting his incredible skill set in just his 2nd game of the season.
John Wall turns back the clock for an insane block and an acrobatic layup
During the dying minutes of the 2nd quarter, Wall displayed his top-notch defense. He blocked Kings’ towering center Marvin Bagley III, who never saw Wall coming while attempting for a dunk.
Following this dominant defensive play, Wall dig deep in his back for an insanely acrobatic layup at the other end of the court.
If he can keep up this performance for the rest of the game, the Rockets might win their 2nd game of the season. They are currently 1-2 as they lost their last fixture with the Kings. If Wall leads the team to a victory tonight, one can’t help but think – can he lead them if James Harden leaves the team?
Can Wall be the leader for the Rockets if James Harden departs?
In the 2020 offseason, the 2018 NBA MVP, James Harden, demanded a trade. He has been with the franchise for 8 years, but they have never even made it to the finals. Many believe that it is finally time for the franchise to move on from Harden.
Furthermore, if the team does decide to fulfil Harden’s trade request, they will get a hefty trade package in return. Along with young stars and the resurgence of John Wall, the Rockets might be in a good situation after all.
But what are your thoughts on the future of the Houston Rockets? Should they place their trust in John Wall or is it too soon to say?
