“Unfortunately, due to time commitments, my coach Daniel Vallverdu and I have mutually agreed to no longer work together. I would like to thank Dani for the work and time we’ve spent together. It was nice meeting you and your family, and I wish you the best in your future ahead,” wrote a thankful Pliskova on Twitter.
Pliskova hired Vallverdu before the 2020 tennis season began. He replaced Pliskova’s earlier coach Conchita Martinez in November 2019. Vallverdu has earlier been associated with Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov. Currently, he is also a part of Stan Wawrinka‘s coaching team.
“Next week, starting preparation for the upcoming season”- Karolina Pliskova
Pliskova has not been up to the mark in 2020. Apart from ending as the runner up of the Italian Open 2020, she has not performed well at other tournaments, especially at Grand Slams. She could not go beyond the second round at the US Open 2020 and French Open 2020. After the conclusion of the Ostrava Open 2020, she announced the end of her 2020 tennis season.
“As you may already know, due to the reduced number of WTA tournaments by the end of the year, the tournament in Ostrava was my last in the season. Since next week, we’re starting preparation for the upcoming season,” added the 28-year-old Pliskova.
Pliskova is yet to announce a new coach for her. Unfortunately, her partnership with Vallverdu ended with no WTA or Grand Slam titles. However, her quest for her maiden Grand Slam title has not decreased. Fans certainly hope her to bounce back and play some exceptional tennis in the coming season.
