As great as the 2018-19 season was for the Golden State Warriors, the previous season was the polar opposite. Everything that could possibly go wrong for them, happened. They landed at the bottom of the table, holding the worst record. But as fast as we saw the team collapse, we still expect them to come back dominant next season.
As the offseason begins, Warriors’ star Stephen Curry knows exactly what the team needs.
First, Kevin Durant skipped town and joined the Brooklyn Nets. Andre Iguodala was traded, but being a part of the Miami Heat last season changed his life. The Heat won the Eastern Conference Finals and gave a tough fight to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals, winning hearts for their determination.
Then came the ultimate tragedy, Klay Thompson‘s ACL injury led him to miss 82 games even before the training camp. If that wasn’t enough, Stephen Curry’s injury was the straw that broke the camel’s back. The Warriors had nothing left to work with.
Although we don’t know what will transpire next season, we expect Curry and Thompson to be back in full health. This alone is more than enough to instill some fear in the league from the Warriors.
Stephen Curry knows the missing piece
In a recent video, Stephen got a chance to interact with his fans and answer some of their questions. The most important question that popped up was, “Who do you think would be a good fit as a rookie this year for you all?”
Although Curry didn’t take any names, he revealed what kind of player the Warriors need in this draft. “The best fit for us probably, need some size but I think at the end of the day, it’s different when you have a pick like that, trying to integrate them to the team that we are bringing back and the excitement coming off this long, long layover.”
With hopes for returning to contend, the Warriors need to get it right this time. They need to make sure they stand up to the expectations placed on their shoulders. With a healthier roster this time, they won’t have any excuses to bank on.
