Seattle Storm’s WNBA Star Pays Tribute to Kobe Bryant After Winning Championship

The star franchise, Seattle Storm, has won yet another WNBA title in 2020. It was a massive day for the team as they swept the Las Vegas Aces 3-0 in the Finals series. After the victory, the first name on every player’s lips was Kobe Bryant.

The Black Mamba was known to contribute immensely to women’s basketball at all levels. He consistently went to watch WNBA matches with his daughter Gigi. In this year of dismal happenings, the world lost the legend himself along with his daughter in an unfortunate plane crash.

Kobe Bryant is still remembered by the Seattle Storm players

Kobe touched innumerable lives and one of them was that of Seattle’s star guard, Jewell Loyd. On the celebratory occasion of her winning her career’s second championship, she paid an emotional tribute to Kobe.

“This year’s been a lot for me. This is for Kobe, Gigi, and the Bryant family… We had a lot of emotions coming into this game. For me this season, I had to pay to him,” Loyd said in the post-match interview. “This is my first season without him, and so I surrounded myself with people who knew him. And I just focused it… It’s very emotional for me.”

Seattle won the third game 92-59 with Breanna Stewart as their leading scorer with 26 points. Loyd recorded 19 points and nine rebounds to add to the victory.

In remembrance of Kobe, Loyd wore his shoes. She said that she “wore the shoes because of Kobe, his jersey number, his everything .. He’s the first person to ever believe in me before I got into the league. It’s special.”

None of those attached to the world of basketball can ever forget Kobe for his phenomenal career and for his contributions to the sport.
