Sebastian Vettel had a future clouded with uncertainty. After Ferrari announced that they were dropping Vettel, the German got trapped in quicksand. He would have drowned if Racing Pont hadn’t extended their hand for help.

Since Racing Point dropped Perez to accommodate Vettel, a lot of controversy arose around the move, starting with backlash for dropping Perez instead of Stroll.

Otmar Szafnauer, on this week’s In The Fast Lane podcast, addressed the second concern. The Racing Point principal outlined that Sebastian Vettel still has a lot left in him. He also said that all Sebastian needs is the right place to put his education to work.

Seb is 33 years old. We must not forget that drivers at 33 are not past their ability to drive a Formula 1 cars. They are probably at their peak, or maybe even climbing.

“I don’t think Seb has forgotten how to drive a Formula 1 car fast,” started Szafnauer.

Sebastian Vettel to bring essential experience to Racing Point

Otmar has repeatedly outlined the key reason for signing Vettel. He had said that they have almost everything except experience. If the team can acquire the experience from Vettel, they believe they can challenge the table toppers.

Sebastian Vettel receives high regard from everyone on the grid. He not only is an inspiration for the youngsters but also a hub for F1 education. Having tasted victory at a very young age, Vettel is far from done.

He is a 4-time world champion, he has got a great work ethic, he will bring with him the experience of what it takes to become a world championship team as well as world championship driver.

That we look forward to learning from him and establishing our processes season method. We have the best chance of taking this team to a world championship team,” highlighted Szafnauer.

He is not taking the 2021 season lightly. The team is en route to their best championship finish this season. Topping that are the aspirations for the Aston Martin rebranding and new updates for the cars. Thus, Racing Point are taking to the challenge of 2021 well.

Vettel and Leclerc rivalry decoded by Otmar

The team principal for the ‘Pink Mercedes’ has high regard for Vettel. Even though the Rhinelander has failed to defeat young Leclerc twice now, Otmar has faith in him. Well, with such a welcoming boss, mentalities will surely get better.

As far as Seb not having beaten his teammates at Ferrari. Apart from the physical bit of driving a Formula 1 car, it is an immensely mental sport and the ability to drive fast, 99 percent comes from your mind,” stated the American.

Szafnauer has highlighted every time – Sebastian Vettel needs love. The story between the German and the Italians is turning as toxic as a high school romantic drama. We agree with Szafnauer that with the right frame, Vettel will be back to doing wonders.

If we can get him into the right mindset with the way we work with our drivers and having less pressure than you have at Ferrari, then we can get him back to driving to the level we know he is capable of driving.

“I think we can have a great combination in young and up-and-coming driver with him [Lance Stroll] who could learn from a 4 time world champion and both scoring regularly,” concluded Szafnauer.

Racing Point aim to take on the championship next season. They have displayed shocking focus and conviction this season. From Lance Stroll scoring a podium to Perez scoring points regularly, they may as well have a good chance with Vettel.
