NBA Trade Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers Preparing for a Blockbuster Trade to Acquire James Harden

The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to pull off a big move this offseason. According to NBA Insider Shams Charania, the Sixers are planning for a blockbuster trade to acquire Rockets superstar James Harden.

I’m told Philadelphia is expected to be interested in and pursue James Harden. The Rockets star, who Daryl Morey has history with, but as will other teams also express interest. As of right now, it is an empathic ‘NO’ from the Rockets side.

“It’s really a non-starter for the organization. Daryl Morey though has a history to be active on the trade market pursuing the different opportunities that may exist out there, and I wouldn’t expect it to be any different, now that he is in Philadelphia.”

Recently, the Sixers hired Daryl Morey as their President of Basketball Operations. This decision already gave rise to several rumors of Harden being traded to the Sixers.

However, with this news coming from a trusted source like Shams, it certainly holds more gravity now. In fact, one might wonder if this could be in the best interest of both teams.

The Harden experiment has failed for the Rockets in terms of bringing home an NBA title, but could the Philadelphia-based franchise help Harden bring a championship home for them?

Can the Philadelphia 76ers lure James Harden out of Houston?

When Harden first joined the Rockets, he hit the ground running. However, gradually the spark settled down and he could never get over the WCF hump. Injuries to his co-stars did play a major role in his failure, but maybe it’s time to move on.

Over the years, the Rockets have given everything to Harden, from top tier teammates to Head Coaches, but nothing has worked for them.

When they traded for Russell Westbrook in the 2019 offseason, the organization had huge hopes for the duo. In the end, they couldn’t even make it out of the second round of the Playoffs.

If the Rockets do decide to trade Harden away, it would an indication for a rebuild. That means Westbrook will be next on the radar to get cap flexibility.

What are your thoughts? Will the Philadelphia 76ers manage to lure James Harden away from Houston? Or will this rumor die down soon?
