NBA Trade Rumors: 3 Teams That Could Trade for Cavaliers’ Andre Drummond

After placing their trust in Andre Drummond for eight years, the Pistons decided to move on from him last season. The former NBA All-Star was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but it appears that his stint with the Cavs will be short.

This season the Cavaliers signed JaVale McGee and acquired Jarrett Allen via trade. As a result, the organization has three starting caliber centers on their roster. But this strategy might not work for them in the longer run.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavs have no plans to play Andre Drummond in the future. In fact, they want to trade him as soon as March 25th (NBA trade deadline.)

The 27-year-old center is in the middle of his prime and will attract heavy interest in the coming weeks. Let’s take a look at the potential suitors for the two-time NBA All-Star.

Charlotte Hornets

After being struck in mediocrity for the last decade or so, the Charlotte Hornets are finally improving this season. They are currently sixth in the East, all thanks to their amazing rookie LaMelo Ball.

While Ball will most likely lead the team in the future, as of now, the team is in need of veteran presence. Furthermore, they could use a great center as well and trading for Andre Drummond will solve both of their issues.

Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are one of the top contenders in the East. Their trio of Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown can handle the offensive load. However, they are still in search of a solid front court player such as Andre Drummond.

Moreover, they have a huge trade exception which can be used to bring Drummond to TD Garden. Drummond might be the only missing piece for them and adding him might take them at least to the NBA Finals.

Toronto Raptors

After winning the NBA Championship in 2019, the Raptors failed to repeat the same level of success. While they did push the Celtics to seven games in a thrilling series, they were sent home in just the second round of the playoffs.

Following that playoff meltdown, the team lost two of their crucial pieces in Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol during free agency. If they can put in a good trade package, Drummond will prove to be an excellent piece for the team.
