The Milwaukee Bucks had a rather poor start to their new campaign. They lost a closely fought battle with the Boston Celtics in the very last second. Moreover, it was their franchise player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who came up short on a game-tying free throw. But should the Bucks be concerned about their season?
Despite the defeat, the Bucks’ big 3 – Giannis, Middleton, and Holiday – put on a show. NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe talked about how this defeat might be a concern for the Bucks, moving forward.
“I know it’s the first game, and I don’t wanna overreact to just one game. But this should be concerning. If I get 87 from my big 3, which is Giannis, Khris Middleton, and Holiday… So I got 87 points, 33 rebounds, made 14 threes, I was better from the floor, out rebounded the smaller Celtics’ team by 15 and I still lost.
“Not for one second did I thought this game was gong to overtime… So for me, Milwaukee is not going away, Giannis was sensational in the fourth quarter… And they have a good team… But Milwaukee man, 87 and 33 and you lose, that’s gotta be frustrating.
As Sharpe explained, the Bucks didn’t play badly, but they just couldn’t put the game to bed. Moving forward, they need to close out games better and get back on track sooner rather than later.
Milwaukee Bucks – The favorites to come out of the East?
This season, there is a cutthroat competition in both conferences. For the first time in years, the Eastern Conference is almost on the same level as the West. There are multiple teams that have the potential to represent the East in the NBA Finals.
The Milwaukee Bucks have led the league in wins for the last two seasons, but come playoff time, they have struggled. This season, they need to make a deep playoff push as they have compensated their future draft picks to acquire Jrue Holiday.
