The Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar, LeBron James, has proved his mettle not only as an athlete but also as a businessman. In his 18-year career, he has earned several millions from his NBA salary, multiple investments, and endorsements.
And now, he is about to achieve new levels of success by joining an elite club with his earnings.
LeBron James joins Messi, Woods, Mayweather
The NBA season just began last month and just two weeks into it, the Coronavirus jeopardized their schedule. Many games have been postponed, and some teams have played with their rosters thinned out.
This is exactly what players were afraid of because of which they showed resistance to play this year.
However, the amount that these players will pocket is the biggest incentive for them to turn up. In fact, NBA salaries have only seen a hike, and Bron is definitely one of the top-most earning players in the league.
Just weeks before the 2020-21 campaign commenced, he signed a two-year contract extension with the Lakers worth $85 million.
And now, he is about to reach the $1 billion ballpark in earnings this year, as per Forbes. His projected earnings are turning up to be $95.4 million this season, and $31.4 million will come only from his on-court earnings as a Laker with $64 million coming from just media, endorsements, and memorabilia.
In fact, he is about to be the fifth active athlete to achieve this feat behind Tiger Woods, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Floyd Mayweather.
A dream come true for the legend
Back in 2014, LeBron had shown ambition to become a billionaire in an interview with GQ’s Jeanne Marie.
“It’s my biggest milestone,” James said. “Obviously. I want to maximize my business. And if I happen to get it, if I happen to be a billion-dollar athlete, ho. Hip hip hooray! Oh, my God, I’m gonna be excited.”
This is turning into his reality. Well, it isn’t surprising that the King is becoming a part of the billion-dollar club. The four-time MVP has earned his respect and deserves every penny he receives. One of the wealthiest athletes in the world, it doesn’t seem like Bron will stop even when his career comes to a close.
