Winning an NBA Championship is the dream of every player in the league. The Los Angeles Lakers squad achieved their dream this season as they were crowned the 2020 NBA Champions.

Although the Lakers were one of the contenders for the championship, they were never the clear cut favorites. Regardless, this will go down as one of the toughest championship runs of all-time.

Lakers guard Alex Caruso shared his thoughts on when he became an NBA champion on the JJ Reddick podcast. He said:

It’s like a drug you can’t get enough of… I watched The Last Dance documentary and every time they will celebrate a championship. You see the banner coming. You see the confetti coming up. I would get that adrenaline rush, I’d get that feeling and I was like, ‘Man I gotta feel that’. … Before the finals started I watched The Last Dance over again. Because I wanted to get that little bit of juice ’cause I wanted to have the dream again in my head. Even though we [Lakers] below them [Heat] out in Game 6, until the clock hit zero, I really didn’t have that feeling.”

Caruso went on to speak about the last few moments of the finals and said, “Then once we are dribbling over in the last ten seconds of the game, it’s a mix of relief, pure joy and I don’t even know if there’s a word to describe it, it’s awesome man.”

The Lakers celebrated their championship in an empty arena. However, it must have been e a great feeling, regardless. Additionally, if everything works out perfectly, the purple and gold might find themselves in the same position next year as well.

Can the Los Angeles Lakers replicate the same success next season?

The Lakers still have a star-studded lineup led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Next season, they will enter the floor with even better team chemistry and with the pride of being NBA Champions.

The team will be much more confident and eager to complete a repeat. However, they can still tweak a few things on their roster. Aside from that, the Lakers are pretty much set for the upcoming season.

Do you think the LA Lakers have what it takes to become back to back NBA champions?
