Brooklyn Nets are the talk of the town right now. From hiring a star-studded coaching lineup to acquiring the duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Nets are looking to rule the league. They will be the team to watch out for when the 2020-21 season starts on 22nd December’20.

Kevin Durant killing it in practice

Many fans and analysts consider Kevin Durant as the best player in the league, even ahead of LeBron James. Understandably, Brooklyn fans had their lips licking when he signed for them a year and a half ago. The lanky forward tore his Achilles in the 2019 NBA Finals against the Raptors. He’s been out of action ever since, and he’ll be under the microscope when he comes back to the court. Brooklyn Nets center Jarrett Allen hyped up the expectations when asked about his potential return and said –

“I’ll just keep it short and simple: KD is back again.”

Wait, have we seen this before? Roll the tape back to 1995 when Michael Jordan was making his return to the NBA after a year and a half with the Chicago Bulls. The only difference is that Kevin isn’t the one who is making these declarations for himself. Many current NBA players who are sharing the practice court with him recently are lauding his high levels in training. Former Celtics’ guard Isaiah Thomas is one of those players.

Can Brooklyn win the championship?

After living in the shadows of their noisy neighbors for so long, the team in Brooklyn has a chance to carve out a legacy for itself. Even though Kyrie Irving is still an enigma for them, they have enough talent around both on the court and the bench. Giving Steve Nash the head coaching gig raised a few eyebrows. But having the likes of Mike D’Antoni, Amar’e Stoudemire and Jacque Vaughn as his assistants will ease the pressure.

Will this mixture be a recipe for disaster? Or will this team enter the NBA folklore as one of the most revolutionary and dominant teams to ever grace the game? Only time will tell.
