‘It Was Dope’: DeMar DeRozan Opens Up on Playing with Chris Bosh at Toronto Raptors

Chris Bosh, during his time with the Toronto Raptors, was a true beast. He put up monster numbers on a daily basis, but couldn’t quite lead the organization to a deep playoff run. When he left the Raptors, future franchise star DeMar DeRozan was just entering his sophomore season.

If Bosh would have stayed, maybe he could have won a ring or two with DeRozan on his side. They could have become a dominant pair, but we will never know.

DeMar DeRozan reveals he learned a lot from Chris Bosh

DeMar appeared on “All The Smoke” podcast, where he shared his experience of playing with Bosh for a year.

Man, it was amazing to be able to know that I was teaming up with, one of the dynamic players, all-stars. At the time, me being a rookie, obviously knowing and understanding his game, who he was and seeing his work ethic.”

DeRozan then shared a story about when he first came to the training camp for the Raptors.

I remember when I came in for training camp, he didn’t really do training camp. Because I think that summer, they had Olympics or something was going on… I always just used to watch his work ethic, even if he didn’t practice, how he approached the way when he was in the gym working out.”

Despite not practicing much, Bosh used to dominate his opponents during that period. DeRozan believes that he learned a lot of things from Bosh by just watching him.

“… That year, even with him not knowing… by just watching his approach to the game, how he carried himself and everything he did. For me, it was dope to be able to play with Chris for a year.”

If Bosh hadn’t left to form the Big 3 in Miami, the Raptors could have won an NBA Championship sooner, rather than later. However, this will always remain one of the biggest what-ifs for the franchise.

While the organization does not have Chris Bosh or DeMar DeRozan anymore, they are still one of the top contenders in the league. However, looking at the competition in the league at the moment, the Raptors’ window to win a ring might be slim right now.

Even for the Eastern Conference title, the competition is quite close. Furthermore, they lost crucial pieces in the offseason which might hinder their chances more. What are your expectations from the organization? Let us know your views in the comments section down below.
