Max Verstappen is recognized to be a driver who always gets straight to the point rather than deviating from it. Seemingly, on multiple occasions, he can be heard expressing his opinions through the team radio irrespective of how rude it may be.
Recently, his team principal, too, acknowledged and appreciated Max’s style of being straightforward. He also added that the 23-year-old doesn’t care for any “bullsh*t” in his team.
Speaking to F1.com, Red Bull’s team principal expressed his views on Max’s no-nonsense approach. “He’s totally honest,” Horner said. “He doesn’t stand for any bullsh*t,” he added.
There are a handful of instances that can actually prove Horner’s statement right. The one that first comes to mind is the race in Spain this year.
Verstappen’s argument with Red Bull at Spanish Grand Prix
During the Spanish Grand Prix this year, Max had quite an eventful radio conversation with his race engineer. The Dutch was made to do a longer stint on the soft tires. In doing so, he started losing his gap to both the Mercedes drivers ahead.
Eventually, he took to his team radio to express his displeasure. “Do you want me to repeat it again? This ******* tire is dead,” he told his race engineer.
Later in the same race, Red Bull were too focused on Mercedes’ strategy. Max wasn’t happy with that and yet again voiced out his thoughts.
“How about we just focus on our race first? yeah? Instead of looking at Lewis” he suggested.

Over this season, Red Bull have always stressed the point that Mercedes are their rivals. Yet again, Max was very clear on his view about the team’s claims.
“Yeah, I’m in the middle of nowhere in this championship,” he said. “From my side, I never thought I was in a championship battle.
“I will finish third if I don’t keep retiring. In general, that’s where we belong. If you are 60 points or 10 behind, it doesn’t matter. You’re slower,” he clarified.
He may have had some hope midway through the season of getting past Valtteri Bottas at the drivers’ table. However, frequent DNFs over the last few races dented his hopes entirely.
Now all Max could wish is to bounce back stronger next season and give the championship fight another shot before going into the highly anticipated 2022 season.
