It turned out to be yet another disappointing race for Sebastian Vettel at the Eifel Grand Prix. Starting in P12, he was going decently fast until a wild spin saw him slide off the track.
And as he approaches the climax of the season with Ferrari, there no longer is that motivation. The good part for Vettel, is that he will have a whole new refreshing project to look forward to.
In what was arguably the biggest news in the F1 community, Vettel of course will be moving to Racing Point for 2021. And that just might see him get back the racing mojo and aggression, that we all know too well.
Sebastian Vettel has gotten a ‘huge opportunity’ with Aston Martin
An upcoming ambitious team meets a four-time world champion. Could there possibly be a better combination for Racing Point, as they enter a new decade of racing?
Former Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg also believes that this move could reignite some of the fire and passion in Vettel. And considering Racing Point are strengthening, it only bodes well for him.
Rosberg is quoted as saying, “His big chance is Aston Martin, it’s a huge opportunity. He’s going to be God again in that team, the car is fast, he can have some real success moments and have a positive mental spiral.”
“And maybe come back to being as good as he used to be, and also remove those mistakes. So it’s a big chance for him, and I’m really happy for him that he’s found that opportunity.”
Racing Point will want to aim for higher than third in the future
It was a good weekend for the Silverstone-based team at the Eifel Grand Prix. In fact, it has been coming along for them since the winter testing earlier this year.
That the upgrades have done well, would hugely please team principal Otmar Szafnauer. Both Perez and Stroll have also looked sharp in the car, with the added assistance from Nico Hulkenberg as well.
Vettel hence, would be walking into a team that has an ambition to possibly challenge upper contenders Mercedes and Red Bull. And so, his keen insights and experience could help Racing Point get there.
