Sergio Perez ended his season on a high as he went from team-less to driving for Red Bull next season. The Mexican was out of a seat when Racing Point announced that Sebastian Vettel will replace him in 2021.

For Perez, the season was about driving to survive. An impressive season was the only way to warrant his way back to the grid. The Mexican proved himself as he finished the season in P4 position, even though he missed out on two races.

Checo made his biggest statement at the Sakhir Grand Prix. He fell back to the end of the grid after an incident during the starting lap. However, he conjured up the best race of his life as he claimed his debut win.

As the year comes to an end, Perez shared a tweet talking about the season and his hard work during the adversity. He laid out his season from failing to score results to ending the year with the biggest opportunity of his career.

A COVID infection came as a hurdle for Perez as soon as the season began. His family was also infected, and he missed two important races while he was fighting for a Formula 1 seat next season.

“I felt everything was lost. The worst time of the year for me,” recalled the Mexican.

Perez also talked about the highlight of the season for him – the race win that came after 91 career races. In what was a highly crucial win for his future in Formula 1, Checo put Mexico back at the top of the podium after half a century.

His performance earned him a one-year contract with Red Bull as he replaced Alex Albon to drive alongside Max Verstappen.

Perez and Max have both stated in the past that they are prepared to push each other to the limit. Red Bull will hope that their new signing, and the healthy competition that comes with it, will strengthen them in their battle with Mercedes next season.
