Chris Paul and his team got eliminated in Round 1 of the post-season. The Oklahoma City Thunder were just one clutch possession away from clinching Game 7, but lost due to Steven Adams’ failure to receive the ball. Chris Paul got a triple-double in that match, but everything in vain. Had they won it, Lakers would have met Thunder before meeting the Denver Nuggets.
Nevertheless, CP3 was praised heavily for his fantastic play in the Bubble. However, there is a life outside of the bubble and beyond Basketball too.
Chris Paul revealed something about the Denver Nuggets star
The 35-YO vet, who also co-chairs “When We All Vote”, recently sat down for an interview. He reflected on the importance of voting, and how a few NBA stars who are stepping out to support these causes.
But one statement from him grabbed huge attention. “It weighed on guys heavily. If you saw Jamal Murray when he had that unbelievable game in the playoffs, he was in tears because we are human beings.” He discussed how difficult it was in the bubble to stay away from one’s family and still perform at the highest level.
Which occasion was Chris referring to?
The Utah Jazz were leading 3-1 against the Denver Nuggets in round 1. That’s when Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic, and the entire unit erupted. They won back-to-back games to level the series. But it was in the do-or-die game 6 when Jamal magically pulled a 50-point performance to save them from elimination.
In the post-game side-court interview, he was out of words as the man of the night had tears in his eyes. There was also footage of him sobbing alone after the game, which was emotional to watch. This is exactly what Chris was talking about, the emotions that run through when there is so much going on with these young players.
Jamal is going super strong in the league right now. The Nuggets continue to put a brave show against the Lakers in conference finals.
