Charles Leclerc had a difficult season as 2020 was filled with struggles for Ferrari and their drivers. They had their worst season since 1980. From being a top team, Ferrari fell down to P6, scrapping the mid-field this season.
The team will host Carlos Sainz alongside Charles Leclerc next season. In an interview, the Monegasque talked about his season and his view for the future. During the interview, he discussed the criticism that angers him the most.
He said, “One that touches me more than others is arrogance, because I know very well that I haven’t changed. The further I go in my career, the more I see that people want to be my friend, certainly not because they like me as a person but because I am a pilot. Ferrari. So I close myself a bit.”
He further added, “But that’s not arrogance, I haven’t changed from that point of view. Well, this touches me personally. Both my father and Jules Bianchi have always told me to keep my feet on the ground. I’ve always kept that advice in mind. That’s why the word arrogance bothers me more than the others.”
Charles Leclerc believes this season will help him grow
Even though Leclerc had a forgettable season, he stated that he is satisfied with his performance. He believes that such situations help him learn and improve his skills.
He said, “Forgetting this season would not be right, because it is in these moments that we grow more. I felt it as a driver and I think he will also help us as a team. We have found things that will help us improve in the future.”
Leclerc will drive alongside Carlos Sainz next season. The Spaniard has clarified that the pair will continuously work with the team to improve Ferrari’s power unit. Both the drivers have proved themselves in Formula 1. However, they’ll hope that Ferrari provides a car that will help them bring the team back to the winning days.
