Charles Leclerc is the buoy that Ferrari are clinging to this season. Disappointments have hurdled their way and their ship is seemingly capsizing. Is Leclerc any good to save them?
The young Monegasque is living up to his praise. Every week he comes out and drives the SF1000 around different circuits. From outside the cockpit, it may seem easy. However, the drivers sing a different song altogether.
Yet, we have seen drivers excelling with hard cars and Leclerc would want to do the same. He has the knowledge and even time is on his side. This season might have been hard on him, but it was educative enough.
“The car is weaker this season, so I can’t speak if the car would have been better, but anyway,” Charles Leclerc told F1.
Well, under such conditions, a weak car and a team in turmoil, how beneficial will it be for Leclerc? Well, he answers it himself.
“I think it has made me a better driver, for sure, because in difficult times I have found my determination in other ways, by focusing on myself, trying to improve, and even though [we are not fighting] for podiums or wins – we are fighting for lower positions – at the end it matters just as much for me,” expressed Leclerc.

Charles Leclerc improved he believes over the season
That being said, this year has tested Leclerc in several ways. The car, the competition and the nerves. Amidst all this, Leclerc has displayed maturity beyond his years. It is not just his driving but his all-round development on track.
“And then in terms also of patience: I don’t think I was a very patient guy in the past but now I have to be, in the situation I am in now, and I feel like I’ve improved on that too.
“So surely, I’m a stronger driver than where I was at the beginning of the season… but [is it] because, of the situation we are in at the moment? I’m not sure,” concluded Leclerc.
Charles Leclerc is aiming high for 2021. If he gets the car that Ferrari promise, he will be a major threat to the Silver Arrows’ domination. Considering Ferrari’s position in the championship, Leclerc is their only key to redemption.
Although Charles has outsmarted Vettel time and time again, the Ferrari No.16 harbors no ill-will against the veteran. He respects his teammate and knows that Vettel is far from done, and as 2021 rolls around, he will be keeping a keen eye on his teammate aboard the ‘Pink Mercedes’.
