‘Bring in Fresh Ideas’ – Norris Explains How Daniel Ricciardo’s Renault Stint Helps McLaren

McLaren will have a new driver pilot their car for the upcoming 2021 season in the form of Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian, coming in from Renault, will replace Carlos Sainz, and team up with Lando Norris.

Having spent two years with Renault, he will bring a lot of his knowledge to the Woking-based team. His final season there saw the Honeybadger get on the podium twice.

Ricciardo not only brings in experience having driven for Red Bull and Renault, but he also brings in a winning mentality, which McLaren can certainly use at the moment.

The experience that Daniel Ricciardo brings experience matters

in an interview with Motorsport.Total.com, Lando Norris talked opened up about how important a driver like Ricciardo is to the team.

“It will be very good, It will give a different perspective on a lot of things. I’m sure some of the comments will be similar to Carlos because Carlos drove the Renault and there are probably many characteristics that are similar.” (translated via Google Translate)

He added, “A lot of what Carlos sometimes talked about went back to when he drove a Renault. A lot of knowledge that drivers have is based on how they have worked with other teams.”

Norris also discussed what the Australian can deliver to the team, saying, “fresh ideas and help the team to develop further.”

There is a possibility that Daniel Ricciardo may have the opportunity to show to his home ground in Australia what he is capable of doing on the track with his new team, McLaren.

Formula One fans can’t wait for the season to start, as they would get to see him back on the grid with his new teammate, Lando Norris, as the pair make an exciting duo both off and on the track.
