One thing to know about Nick Kyrgios is that he is an avid gamer. The Australian tennis star is back on the practice courts and is preparing for the 2021 season. Meanwhile, Kyrgios – the gamer, also experienced the new PlayStation 5 for the first time and gave his thoughts on the same.

Kyrgios called himself a professional gamer as well.

“I’m a professional tennis player and I’d like to think I’m a professional gamer on the side,” Kyrgios said.

Kyrgios started playing the famous game ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’ and ‘Devil May Cry’ on the new PS5 and was impressed from the moment he began. He then revealed how his love for gaming started. Kyrgios’ older brother used to play games all the time, while he would sit beside him and watch and learn.

He then started playing when he was eight years old and has been playing ‘Call of Duty’ since then.

The 25-year-old then called himself the ‘best gamer’ on the tennis tour.

“I personally believe that I’m the best gamer on the tennis tour. There’s a lot of guys that think they can game. Athletes, in general, because they’re high on confidence, generally think they can game as well, but they can’t,” Kyrgios expressed.

Kyrgios is one of the most competitive tennis players around. However, he believes he is just as competitive as a gamer if not more. “I will never be okay with losing. It does affect my mood a lot,” Kyrgios said.

Future profession for Kyrgios?

The world number 45 said that he seriously sees himself take up gaming professionally, a few years down the line.

“I think when I reach that 10-year mark professionally, I think I wanna try and transition into the gaming environment. And I definitely think I’m good enough,” Kyrgios said further.

He feels that on the tennis court, he can only improve his skills to an extent. But when it comes to the gaming world, there is always scope to learn more due to its evolving nature.

Another thing Kyrgios is known for is his temper on the tennis court. But Kyrgios vowed to never break a PS5 controller like he would do to a tennis racquet.
