It’s time for the quarter-finals of the Australian Open 2021, and fans will witness some exciting clashes there. In one of the encounters, World No.4 Daniil Medvedev will face his counterpart and World No.8 Andrey Rublev.

It will surely be an electrifying match as both the players are in superb form and recently won the ATP Cup 2021 for their side, Russia.

Daniil Medvedev is currently on an 18-match winning streak and Andrey Rublev will surely find it difficult to face him. However, Rublev too had an amazing 2020 season and will fancy his chances at winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open 2021 after reaching this close.

The Russian player even survived a tough match against Filip Krajinovic in the third round and showed the fans that he can easily regain momentum even after losing two consecutive sets.

On the other hand, Rublev too has impressed tennis fans with his incredible performances. He hasn’t lost a single set in the Slam yet and recently got a walkover against Casper Ruud in the fourth round of the tournament.

Rublev will certainly look to find the answers to Medvedev’s attacking forehands. The tall Russian player strikes them with a lot of power, and they often land precisely on the court.

However, he too will have to come prepared for Rublev’s service. The World No.8 player serves quite well and wins most of his points while serving.

Their last Grand Slam meeting was at the US Open 2020, where Medvedev thrashed Rublev in straight sets in the quarter-finals only.

Interestingly, all their encounters have happened on hard courts, and Rublev hasn’t won a single set in all any of these three matches against his counterpart.

Even though Rublev is enjoying a great form, Medvedev will surely begin as the favorite. The World No.4 player has got a fantastic temperament and knows how to win big and crucial matches.
