There aren’t many players who enjoy success in both singles and doubles on the biggest of stages in tennis. The Belarusian, Aryna Sabalenka, is one such mention who finds her way into that category. Over the past couple of seasons, the former World No. 9’s fame has been spreading thanks to her progress in the game.
The Belarusian is currently in the Middle-East, playing at the WTA Abu Dhabi Open 2021. Aryna has looked really good in the tournament, beating in-form Maria Sakkari to advance to the finals. She will now meet Veronika Kudermetova of Russia who has won a doubles title at the 2019 Wuhan Open.
Aryna Sabalenka: More Important Things in Life Than Tennis
In her post-match press conference after her semi-final win today, Aryna Sabalenka credited her current form to a book she had read not long ago.
“This book actually showed me that in life, there are so many important. Like, more important things than tennis and I’m just like, an after, after this book, I’m keep reading, but like, I just almost done. And I think I just understand that.”
The book titled “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k” explains how to find things in life that have a meaning to it. It also states that one should possess only those values that an individual can control.
Aryna Sabalenka also reflected on certain aspects of her game and added, “I’m just enjoying my game on the court and just like trying to improve myself and having fun there and like. I don’t really care about anything, just doing my job. And that’s it.”
She clearly has sought inspiration from the book and it has helped her perform exceptionally in recent times. The Belarusian is currently on a 14-match winning streak and has a great opportunity to cross the last hurdle and lift the WTA Abu Dhabi Open 2021.
