Serena Williams is just one Grand Slam away from winning her 24th title. Currently, she stands second in the list of most Grand Slams just behind Margaret Court. Winner of 23 Grand Slam titles, Serena has been looking for her 24th title for a few years now without much success. While most people cite her injury and age as a factor, she continues to be in stunning form in the court.

Former French Open champion, Ana Ivanovic has played against Serena Williams. While Ivanovic decided to retire, Serena has continued playing at the top level. Her fitness and strokes are exquisite enough to make anyone envious. Even though she has failed to win a title in recent years, her fitness and dedication are a treat to the eyes.

Ivanovic shuns the fact that Serena is well past her age. While many believe that she won’t be able to win her 24th title, Ivanovic is sure about the American claiming her 24th title to touch Margaret Court’s feat.

“I do think she will get the 24th that she wants. I think she may be just misses winning a final and just winning the final step. It’s amazing that she’s 39 and still playing at such a high level. I saw a little bit of her matches in the US Open and I was really amazed to see how was she moving and hitting the ball. It was very clean and very powerful. I haven’t seen her semi-final match but I really thought that she could do it there”, the former Roland Garros champion stated.

The Serbian mentioned the two venues which will suit Serena to grab her 25th title. It came as no surprise to find US Open and Wimbledon in there.

She loves playing hardcourt and US Open she always performs well there. Her emotions come into play in front of the home crowd. So I’d always rate her to do well there. Even at Wimbledon, I think she has a proper game, skills are amazing, strong shots, and like I said, moves really well. So I think Wimbledon or US Open could be her best chance.”

Serena Williams missed a few golden opportunities

Serena Williams had some pretty good chances to claim her 24th title this year. However, she failed to capitalize on her advantages and had to return empty-handed.

In the Australian Open, she faced Wang Qiang of China in the third-round match. She lost in the three-setter match and was shown the exit door.

Serena Williams started her US Open 2020 journey on a high. Playing in her own country, she was confident of proving the haters wrong and taking the cup. Her rhythm was fantabulous as she went to the semi-finals. Facing Victoria Azarenka, she picked up the first set and was confident about proceeding into the finals. Although losing two consecutive sets she had to give away her US Open championship dream.

She came up to the French Open 2020 to seek her 24th title. However, an early injury forced her to call her journey off in the second round. Hopefully, she makes a remarkable comeback to clinch her coveted title. Afterall nothing is merrier than to see Serena’s lethal returns winning her titles.
