Driving a Formula 1 car is not a simple task. Formula 1 cars run at 230mph and drivers require quick instincts to drive the car. Lewis Hamilton has been driving in Formula 1 since 2007 and has become one of the most successful drivers in the history of the sport.
Lewis Hamilton clinched his championship title last weekend. He then appeared on Stephen Colbert’s talk show and spoke about his emotions, his childhood, and how a Formula 1 car feels among other things.
Stephen Colbert asked Hamilton what it feels to race in a Formula 1 car? Hamilton explained that it’s like having superpowers. He said, “It’s like a superpower to control that car at those speeds in the trickiest conditions.”
Lewis Hamilton shares that he gets in a zone while driving
Lewis Hamilton explains his feelings while driving a Formula 1 car. He said, “At the end of the day, the reason I’ve always loved it is the speed, its the adrenaline and I think when I get in the car, I get in some sort of a zone.”
Driving a Formula 1 car requires an incredible level of skill. However, Hamilton talked about the need for some natural reactions. He said, “There are some natural reaction, like you know, in terms of controlling the car.”
Lewis explains that long hours of practice and hard work goes into preparing for one race. He said, “People see it and think it’s easy but it’s obviously the work that goes on in the background that people don’t get to see.”
According to Lewis, Formula 1 is a unique sport. He also compared the Formula 1 car to a fighter jet. “I love the challenge because you’d see in the race there were other people who were struggling and I take a lot of pride in the work that I do,” he further added.
Lewis Hamilton raced like a champion to win at the Istanbul Park. It is widely reported that Hamilton will come back to the grid with Mercedes next season. As for fans, they’ll be waiting for an official announcement and the term of the next year.
